Doing the Long Distance Thing

Reece, Nell, and I miss our Providence friends very much and have loved meeting up every week or so this summer for some kind of day trip. Each one of these outings would have been deserving of its own post, but I'm in major catch-up before the big move mode, so here it is!

Our first trip to Rocky Neck State Park was overcast and a little chilly, but that's perfect beach weather for the under 4 set. Nell ate a LOT of sand.

Reece was captivated by this giant stick for most of our time there - he is an excavator in this picture.

Our second trip was sunnier, and more crowded. Here Reece and Lizzy are having snack, and Nell is imitating an old woman at the beach.

We went to the Sunflowers for Wishes festival at Buttonwood Farm again this year, and Nell took her second (but first awake) ride on the cow train. She loved it.

Choosing just one picture of Reece and Lizzy was nearly impossible, they are so cute together and (minus Reece's outfit) they are ready for a Crewcuts photo shoot.

A couple of weeks ago we went to Providence for a mini-vacation, staying with our fantastic friends Kate, Rusty, Willie, and Maggie. I'm not usually into traveling with the kids alone, but this was more like being home. It was so wonderful to relax into our regular places and activities - it was the easiest three days of my entire summer!

Nell happily ate her way through Providence - here she is enjoying pizza at Emily's house.

Nell and Maggie and their pushcarts in Little Woods at the Children's Museum.

Nell can finally stand well enough to do the little kids' water table! She was enthralled putting one ball after another down the ramps.

The zoo has made another big play area since we moved away and Reece had a lot of fun building forts in it.

Nell wants to help too!
